About ACBOs

ACBO

The Alliance for Community Based Organisations (ACBOs) is a consortium space for networking, peer learning and institutional capacity strengthening of community-based organisations. It was founded by and for CBOs domiciled and operating in Zimbabwe’s marginalised communities mostly in the rural and poor urban communities of the country. The ACBOs works with existing and emerging community based organisations whose goal is to contribute towards a democratic and developmental Zimbabwe. Our flagship work is centered on our Rural Engagement Strategy (RES).

ACBOs is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding signed by network members and other guiding frameworks including periodic Strategic Plans, Resource Mobilisation plans and.  and is currently convened by the Institute for Young Women Development (IYWD), which supports the Coordination Committee and Steering Committee respectively.

Full realization of inclusive development and democracy in Zimbabwe, where local communities’ concerns are addressed and human rights upheld and promoted.

Mission

To mobilize, serve and represent the interests of Zimbabweans by; organising and coordinating CBOs in Zimbabwe through collaboration, sharing of good practices, resources mobilization, capacity strengthening and evidence based advocacy for community development.

Motto

Citizen participation for community development in Zimbabwe
