Swot Analysis
Strengths
Location: The Organizations is strategically positioned as it is community based in mining towns and have all the spaces in Zvishavane and Mberengwa. The Organization is also string in community mobilization and is able to reach out to larger groups of vulnerable women and girls.
• Skilled staff: the Organization has a staff compliment of 5 people, Directors, Programs Officer, Communications Officer and Administration Officer as well as volunteers
• Membership based Organization: already have large numbers of women that we are working with.
• Services: offer psychosocial support, life skills and information dissemination. The Organization has been successful in training women in livelihood and life skills projects such as soap making, backyard farming and poultry.
• Partnerships: The Organization has the ability to network and collaborate with other organizations mainly those that complement its objectives and share common goals.
• Women led Organization therefore specializing in all women issues such as health, psychological, and socio-economic issues among others
Weaknesses
• Lack funding- the Organization does not have a stable funding bases as it heavily relies on external funding.
• As an Organization we however believe that we cannot do everything and that no organization has all the expertise as a single entity in tackling all women issues therefore we neutralize this weakness by taking advantage of our strength in partnerships/collaborations.
Opportunities
Spaces: the Organization`s operational areas are largely mining and agriculture communities hence presenting an opportunity for economic empowerment for both the staff and the Organization.
• Patriarchal Community which gives us as an Organization more ground and reason to advocate for women’s rights and participation at all levels.
• Apolitical Organization- not biased and not limited to a certain political party. We work in all spaces
• Women based Organization- women are the majority therefore as we empower a woman, we empower communities.
Threats
Policy inconsistency: Policies in Zimbabwe are changing now and again especially economic policies, hence making it difficult to plan in such an environment.
• Patriarchal society witnessed by male dominance (cultural practices) which may mean that the journey towards gender equality may be too long and tiresome.
• Limited services for gender based violence survivors in the operational areas hence cases may go unresolved for long.
• Shrinking civic space due to interference from government and government agencies.
